Room Representatives

Dear OFRS Families,

Room Representatives play an important role in helping build a strong sense of community within each classroom at OFRS. Serving as a bridge between teachers, parents, and the PTO, Room Reps support classroom events, assist with communication, and help create memorable experiences for students throughout the year. As a Room Rep, you’ll also have the opportunity to coordinate and attend three class parties as well as chaperone the field trip. This volunteer position is a fun and rewarding way to stay connected with your child’s class, get know other families and support our teachers and school.

Who should sign-up?
Any parent or guardian who is looking to be more involved and can fulfill the responsibilities (listed to the right) should signup to be a Room Rep. Each class is given 2-4 representatives, depending on the grade, so you will not be alone. Our signup form comes out at the end of May for the following school year. You will receive an email with instructions. Please note: this is a highly competitive position, so if you are interested, we recommend signing up as soon as possible.

Who are selected as room representatives?
Room Representatives are selected on a first-come, first-served basis. After class lists are released in August, Room Representatives are selected. Being a competitive position, we do give consideration to previous participation and adherence to PTO guidelines. We ask our volunteers to follow four main rules.

  1. Be a PTO member in good standing each year (By Oct. 1st).
  2. Show consistent participation by attending 75% of PTO meetings, events and Room Rep activities.
  3. Follow through in a timely manner with communications and keep your class updated with PTO events and emails.
  4. Complete all the responsibilities (list to the right) with your fellow Room Representatives.
OFRS is such a wonderful and welcoming place and we truly couldn’t do it without YOU! Thank you to all of our former and current Room Representatives and we hope you consider signing up for this incredibly rewarding volunteer opportunity! If you have any questions, please contact me at scheduling@ofrspto.org

Warmly,
Chelsea Taylor
Director of Scheduling and Room Representatives
